New SSS Mobile App Released at the End of 2019

The Social Security System (SSS) recently unveiled the SSS mobile app last December 2019. With this new platform, individual members can pay for their contributions online. SSS has also partnered with PayMaya, an officially accredited collection and payment partner.

Payments can be made using any credit, debit or prepaid card from Visa, Mastercard, or JCB. For those without a credit card or bank account, you can use a PayMaya account. After downloading and registering with the PayMaya app, you can go back to the SSS mobile app and select the option “Pay with PayMaya.”

For the first phase of its run, the app will accept contributions from self-employed, voluntary, and overseas filipino workers. Later on, other services will be made available, such as employers’ contributions (regular and household) and salary loan payments. This is good news for employers as the future app functionalities will simplify payment of SSS contributions of employees.

According to press releases, the introduction of the app is in line with the government’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business and streamline government services. In 2019, the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Report placed the Philippines at the 124th spot among 190 economies — 11 places lower than the country’s previous ranking of 113th.

How it works

Download the app in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). To make an account in the app, SSS will direct you to a separate page and offer five registration options:

  • Savings Account Number / Citibank Cash Card / UBP Quick Card / UMID – ATM Saving Account Number Registered in SSS
  • Mobile Number Registered in SSS
  • UMID Card
  • Employer ID Number / Household Employer ID Number
  • Payment Reference Number / SBR No. / Payment Receipt Transaction Number

After registering, you can log into the app, where you will find a homepage with six icons:

  • My Information
  • My Contributions
  • My Loans
  • My Benefits
  • Generate PRN/SOA
  • Maternity Notification
  • Paying for your pension fund contribution simply takes two steps:
  1. Tap “Generate PRN/SOA” (Payment Reference Number), provide the necessary payment details, and verify the PRN request.
  2. After PRN generation, click the “Pay” button and select a payment method:
      • PayMaya: Click the “Pay with PayMaya” button in the payment page. Log in using the mobile number and password connected with your PayMaya account. You will receive a one-time pin that you need to enter to verify the transaction.
    • Credit, debit, or prepaid cards: In the payment page, enter the card number, cardholder name, and expiry date, and three-digit CVV verification number. Depending on which card you use, the app may also ask for a one-time pin, which will be sent to your mobile number.

After following these steps, payment will be reflected in the “My Contributions” section.
