The Social Security System (SSS) recently unveiled the SSS mobile app last December 2019. With this new platform, individual members can pay for their contributions online. SSS has also partnered with PayMaya, an officially accredited collection and payment partner.
Payments can be made using any credit, debit or prepaid card from Visa, Mastercard, or JCB. For those without a credit card or bank account, you can use a PayMaya account. After downloading and registering with the PayMaya app, you can go back to the SSS mobile app and select the option “Pay with PayMaya.”
For the first phase of its run, the app will accept contributions from self-employed, voluntary, and overseas filipino workers. Later on, other services will be made available, such as employers’ contributions (regular and household) and salary loan payments. This is good news for employers as the future app functionalities will simplify payment of SSS contributions of employees.
According to press releases, the introduction of the app is in line with the government’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business and streamline government services. In 2019, the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Report placed the Philippines at the 124th spot among 190 economies — 11 places lower than the country’s previous ranking of 113th.
Download the app in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). To make an account in the app, SSS will direct you to a separate page and offer five registration options:
After registering, you can log into the app, where you will find a homepage with six icons:
After following these steps, payment will be reflected in the “My Contributions” section.
